The Adventures of Huckle Berry Finn
Mark Twain author of The Adventures of Huckle Berry Finn published in 1884 has recently hit the news. For many years there's been controversy over this novel dating back to 1955. This year there's rumor of the book being republished to change the *n word to slave. I being African American & Panamanian Amercian don't have a problem of the use of the *n word in the novel because i understand that its just a book. That's how people talked in that time period and you just cant change history. You cant just try to cover up something or pretend it didn't happen. There are black authors who used the *n word and even some who used terms for white people too. Those novels too should be considered subject to change. Right now I'm reading To Kill A Mocking Bird and the *n word is frequently used. Are they going to republish it too? I don't think they should republish anything. The books have already been read and the authors have already died. I bet if the authors were still alive society wouldn't be doing this. Educators and others of high authority should speak up. Because of they change a simple traditional book, they can change the color blue to red.
